Marupo ACTS is always looking for more passionate, community-minded volunteers to help out with our events or running the organization. We welcome a variety of skillsets and offer flexible time commitments, including remote roles. While volunteers aren’t paid, we do strive to have in-person team meetups on a recurring basis, with food and beverage expenses covered. Specific roles we’re currently looking to fill are listed below. We have a single intake form for all volunteers regardless of which role(s) you’re interested in:

Available Positions

We need someone to help us secure more funding to help make our events financially sustainable.
Primary responsibilities:
- Drafting proposals, grants, and letters of inquiry to acquire funding
- Work closely with leadership to convey Marupo's mission accurately and eloquently
- Identify potential grant opportunities and follow their associated deadlines
Desired skills and qualifications:
- A strong understanding of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) best practices
- (Preferred) ability to code websites, specifically knowledge of HTML coding, along with a keen eye for good UI/UX (User Interface/User Experience) design
- (Preferred) experience in creating basic graphics and a general understanding of graphic design principles
Any prior experience or knowledge of nonprofit directories and Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) directories is also highly valued.

We need someone to help us expand our online presence to ensure that future events have reach the eyes and ears of the community. Higher turnout will help us attract more vendors and thus allow us to improve our events.
Primary responsibilities:
- Managing Instagram / TikTok / Other social media accounts, and posting on them on some regular cadence, especially leading up to an event.
- Managing our email list and sending email blasts to previous attendees as needed
- Working with the graphic design team to make visually appealing and professional posts
Desired skills and qualifications:
- A strong understanding of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) best practices
- (Preferred) ability to code websites, specifically knowledge of HTML coding, along with a keen eye for good UI/UX (User Interface/User Experience) design

We need someone to reach out to potential vendors and help cultivate relationships with them in order to ensure that we have a variety of culinary and cultural experiences at future events.
Primary responsibilities:
- Cold calling / emailing potential vendors
- Networking with vendors
- Promoting Marupo ACTS events
- Following up with vendors and collecting data following events

We need volunteers to help other teams with creating visuals and assets. These will be used for our social media, our website, and in-person events.
Primary responsibilities:
- Leveraging graphic design software to create various kinds of Marupo-themed visuals for various purposes
- Working closely with other teams to provide them with any visual assets they may need
- Maintaining visual coherence and a consistent theme in both our virtual and physical presence

The Bookkeeping Volunteer helps Marupo ACTS stay financially organized and ensures our events run smoothly and sustainably, while giving leadership the tools to make informed decisions.
Primary responsibilities:
- Record and categorize income and expenses (e.g., donations, event revenue, vendor fees, supply purchases).
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Prepare simple financial reports for the leadership team.
- Ensure proper documentation of donations for tax and reporting purposes.
Desired skills and qualifications:
- A strong understanding of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) best practices
- (Preferred) ability to code websites, specifically knowledge of HTML coding, along with a keen eye for good UI/UX (User Interface/User Experience) design

This role focuses on planning, organizing tasks, and keeping teams aligned so projects are delivered smoothly and successfully.

- Break down larger initiatives (like the Night Market) into clear, manageable steps.
- Monitor progress and help remove obstacles for volunteers or teams.
- Adapt plans as needed when challenges or opportunities arise.
